Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber is set to return to action for the Gunners after a lengthy injury layoff.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Wolves at the Molineux Stadium, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed the former Ajax defender is set to return to action for the club.
According to him, Timber who was back to Arsenal training since February 2024, is now on the ‘final laps’ of his recovery process and may return to the pitch before the season ends.
”It is too soon.
“He’s going to play a game with the under-21s and after that, we will see better where he is, how he felt.
”He looks really good in training but it’s that last step now. We need to have the certainty that he’s ready to go,” Arteta said.
The upbeat assessment of the injury by Arteta came amidst previous reports Timber may not play for Arsenal again this season.
The highly-rated young defender picked up an ACL issue early in the season after making just two competitive appearances for Arsenal
While Arteta is optimistic about Jurrien Timber’s return, it has yet to be ascertained when the defender will take to the pitch again to join the Gunners’ title-chasing campaign.
He has missed almost the entirety of his debut season with the Gunners but will be hoping to bounce back next season.
