Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has broken his silence on his long-term Tottenham future after the team’s dramatic 4-2 defeat to Manchester city.

The former Juventus boss appeared to raise doubts over his long-term future at Spurs after the loss at Etihad.

After suffering a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at home in their last Premier League tie before Man City game, Conte needed to up his game to stay aloof in the top-four race.

A promising first half saw the visitors snatched a shock 2-0 lead before the break. But City needed time to overturn the result and proceed to win the match.

Unlike the good first half play, Tottenham were torn to shreds by City in the second half. Two quick goals by Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland overturned the game.

A shabby and jittery Spurs defending coupled with another blunder by Hugo Lloris put the game beyond the Lilywhites, and Man City regained control after the first half deficit.

Two more goals from Riyad Mahrez sank Antonio Conte and his team, as Manchester City completed a classic comeback win over the visitors.

Following the defeat, Tottenham sit five points adrift of the top four with Arsenal, City, Manchester United and Newcastle all holding a game in hand over the north London club.

When asked about his future after the match, Conte said: ‘For sure under the personal aspect it is a difficult season for what happened but now this situation is not important.

‘This situation is my personal situation and then will be the time to make the right decision for me, for the future, for my family, but this situation doesn’t affect the work and doesn’t affect the team.’

Conte has made a habit of raising doubts about his future at Tottenham, and has been coy for much of last season about his long-term plans with the North London club.

However, the former Chelsea boss has warned Tottenham that they would regret sacking him, as he has never had issues of commitment with any club he has worked with.

Before the game against Manchester City, Antonio Conte maintained that none of the clubs he has managed have been left disappointed with his performance as he always tries his best for the team.

Antonio Conte’s contract at Tottenham will expire at the end of this season. Meanwhile, the club’s board are yet to initiate contract renewal talks, and there are speculations, he may likely be relieved of his duty after his contract expires.

Conte has struggled with Tottenham Hotspur this season, and has not been able to replicate last season’s success.

While challenging for the Premier League title could be ruled out, failure to make the top-four may be the flashpoint of his faceoff with the club.

As things stand, the Premier League top-four race is shaping up with Newcastle intent on gatecrashing the race.

After the loss against City, they are now five points away from the top and have played one game more than Newcastle.

A win for Newcastle and Manchester United in their next game could see the gap widen from 5 points to 8 points.
