Adam Johnson is regarded as a Disgraced Premier League star by most British media due to how his football career ended over five years ago.
The 34-year-old former football star was at the peak of his football career when he decided to be sexually engaged with a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
Adam Johnson who had played for Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Watford, Manchester City, and Sunderland, before he was charged with Child grooming, and Sexual activity with a minor, was in a serious relationship with one Stacey Flounders when he decided to commit the crime.
The embarrassing news did not go down well with Flounders who could not believe that her lover could have her at home and still go about looking for an underage girl to be sexually active with.
Hence, Stacey vowed not to stand by Adam Johnson after it was confirmed that he committed the sex offense. Before then, her relationship with the ex-convict had produced a child. The girl child named Ayla Sofia Johnson was born in January 2015, a year before everything went sour for the ex-footballer.
With little or no sympathy from the football world, especially football fans, Adam Johnson lost the prestige of being a Premier League star. The English football association even went as far as withdrawing his 19 international appearances.
The former Manchester City winger was thrown into prison in 2016 for the sex offense and was expected to spend six years. However, he was released on license on 22 March 2019.
When he was released from prison in 2019, the English football star put out a statement that read: “I am very sorry for the effect my conduct had on those directly and indirectly involved. It should never have happened and I deeply regret what I did.
“I now want to concentrate on the future and want to demonstrate through my actions that I am committed to repaying them for their support.”
Though Stacey Flounders vowed not to stand by Adam Johnson after calling him a liar and a cheater, the British lady decided to return to him. She and the ex-footballer fell in love again and moved into the same house reportedly worth £500,000 in County Durham, England.
Shortly, she became pregnant for Johnson and had a baby boy which means that he might have failed himself in football but he has not failed in his family life.
Reports claimed that the ex-footballer is planning to relocate himself and his family abroad to start afresh, two years after imprisonment.
A British publication, The Sun, quoted a friend of the two lovers saying: “They got back together through lockdown when they were spending lots of time with each other looking after their daughter.
“Stacey never thought of Adam as a pedophile.
“She knew he made mistakes and was furious with him for all of his cheating.
“But she never hated him. He insists he has learned the error of his ways and has promised he will never cheat again.
“She thinks he is a brilliant dad.
“This is a new chapter in their lives and Stacey couldn’t be happier. But make no mistake – she will not be messed around.
“These last few years have really toughened her up and, although she has forgiven Adam, there will be no second chances.”
