Achraf Hakimi’s wife Hiba Abouk has reportedly abandoned the Paris Saint Germain star player after his shock rape scandal.
French prosecutors announced on Friday, 3rd of March, 2023, that the 24-year-old Morocco international has been placed under judicial surveillance on fundamental charges of rape.
Hakimi was accused of rape on Thursday, 2nd of March, 2023, by 24-year-old woman who cannot be identified, while his 36-year-old wife Hiba was on holiday with their children.
According to sources close to them, the 36-year-old actress, Hiba, has already distanced herself from Hakimi for weeks.
As a result of the rape accusation, she is reportedly “accelerating” the divorce process.
An Instagram image shows her strolling along a beach in Dubai with her two young sons, but she has yet to make any sort of public statement.
In the meantime, she has removed a few photos from her Instagram page in which she was seen with her husband and the father of her two children.
Hakimi met the Spanish actress in 2018 while he was playing for Borussia Dortmund and they both tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony in 2020.
Their first son (Amine) was born in February of the same year and their second born (Naim Hakimi Aboukhris) was born two years after.
According to Le Parisien newspaper, which revealed the allegations earlier this week, the woman went to the police station on Sunday, where she accused Hamiki of rape.
According to French laws, if a judge in France issues preliminary charges, it means he or she has grounds to believe a crime has been committed but needs more time to investigate before determining whether to put the case on trial.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the Morocco international is under police oversight and is not allowed to have any contact with the alleged victim. Meanwhile, prosecutors have stated that the player may leave French territory.
Reporters have been told by insiders that Hakimi has denied all charges even though neither he nor PSG has made any public statements about the probe.
The player’s attorney said the alleged victim has refused to pursue charges, refused to submit herself to any medical or psychological testing, and refused to meet face to face with Achraf Hakimi when the accusations only rely on her words.
During his interrogation with police, Achraf Hakimi fiercely disputed the claims against him.
Being charged allows Hakimi to mount a vigorous defense, including the ability to see all relevant documents in the case.
Hakimi, who has missed time due to a leg injury, is expected to return for Saturday’s league match against Nantes for his team.
The announcement comes only five days before PSG’s pivotal second-leg showdown against Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16.
On Monday, Hakimi was in Paris for the FIFA Best awards presentation, where he learned that he had been chosen for the 2022 FIFPRO World XI.
Hakimi, at 24 years old, has been with PSG since 2021, when he helped the club win the league title. Furthermore, he played a key role in Morocco’s run to the FIFA World Cup semi-final in Qatar.
