Morocco and PSG right back Achraf Hakimi has denied rape accusations saying he is a victim of a racketeering plot.
The 2022 Morocco World Cup star was accused of rape by a woman.
According to the woman, Achraf Hakimi allegedly raped her after he invited her to his home when his wife was on holiday with their children.
The alleged victim is said to have lodged a report with the French Police although she did not want to press ahead with charges against him.
Meanwhile, French prosecutors have immediately swung into action probing the Morocco international due to the weight of the allegations.
On Thursday, prosecutors grilled the PSG defender as part of preliminary Investigations into the incident.
A top French media outlet, Le Parisien confirmed Achraf Hakimi and the woman had been in contact on Instagram since January 16, 2023, after the 2022 World Cup.
After two months of contact, Achraf Hakimi reportedly invited the woman to his house in Boulogne on Saturday, paying an Uber transport for her.
It was during the woman’s visit to Achraf Hakimi’s home in Boulogne that the rape incident reportedly occurred.
According to her, after she visited the footballer, he assaulted her before she kicked him and freed herself from his grasp before quickly texting a friend about the incident.
Achraf Hakimi Denies Rape accusations
On 3rd March, French prosecutors confirmed Achraf Hakimi has been placed under judicial supervision on preliminary charges of rape.
This implies the Moroccan footballer will cooperate with law enforcement agencies as he is now under full investigation for the alleged rape scandal.
The investigation into the incident has begun and the 24-year-old was questioned on Thursday to that effect.
In a statement through his lawyer Fanny Colin, made available by ESPN, Achraf Hakimi has strongly denied the accusations, insisting he is a victim of a racketeering plot, and cannot be faulted on any wrongdoing in the alleged scandal.
“According to the elements currently at the disposal of the police that M. Hakimi, in this case, is the victim of an attempt of racketeering.”
“Achraf Hakimi strongly denied the accusations against him during his police interview,” the statement reads.
Achraf Hakimi’s Wife Hiba Dumps Him
In the wake of the rape charges pressed against Achraf Hakimi, it has been revealed that Hiba, a 36-year-old TV actress, and wife of the footballer has dumped him.
The mother of two is said to have separated from Hakimi and has not been spotted together with Hakimi for months.
She was recently seen in an Instagram post having a nice time on a Dubai beach with her two sons. The post’s caption suggests an uneasy going between the couple.
She wrote in the post, “Adding moments. Family first. I’d die for mine.”
Hakimi got married to Hiba in 2022 after two years of dating. They have two sons together. Apparently, the rape accusations must have lodge a wedge between the two couples.
Amid the rape accusations and the reaction of the French law enforcement authorities, PSG have reiterated their resolve to defend Hakimi and ensure he comes though the accusations unscathed.
