It appears the rising form of AC Milan seems to be attracting some young talents, and Atalanta-owned midfielder Matteo Pessina looks like being of them.

Milan had finished the season on a good note by securing European football. Stefano Pioli, who recently got a new contract will be making some reinforcement for the club to continue their improvement.

According to t reports, the 23-year-old who had a fantastic season with Hellas Verona in the recently concluded season is being wanted by the Rossoneri, where he started his footballing career as a youth player.

The young lad has also made it clear that his preference is the San Siro club. This should be an easy catch for Milan if they actually wanted Pessina’s service. La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that Rossoneri is extensively linked with a move for Pessina over the last few weeks, and there appears to be a mutual interest.

How Matteo Pessina performed well for Velas Herona on loan from Atalanta

Pesssina was sold to Atalanta in 2017, and the San Siro club retained 50 percent of his resale clause. Due to lack of first-team opportunities at Bergamo, the club loaned him to Hellas Verona where he had an excellent season. This caught the attention of Milan, where he is likely to return to.

Due to the resale clause in his contract, it is favourable for Milan as well. They only need to pay half of his current valuation, which is around €20million if they wanted to buy him back.

However, AC Milan valued him less than €20million. The paper reports that the Rossoneri had placed €12 million value on the 23-year-old and therefore only intend to pay €6m. Due to the huge difference in the valuation, it will not be easy to find an agreement, even if there is time.

Matteo Pessina scored seven goals last season

Pessina, who is also another breakout performer in the recently concluded season that saw him helped Hellas Verona to a 9th place finish on the Serie A table after playing 35 games and scoring seven goals.

The Italian under 21 international is seen as a player, who could form a formidable partnership with Hakan Calhanoglu or even be an alternative.

However, Atalanta will expectedly want to keep him due to his rising profile and what he can bring to Piero Gasperini’s improving team. The tactician is expected to, therefore, evaluate his options and make his final decision on the midfielder. But the player’s decision is very important as well.

According to reports, Verona also wanted him for another season, and that could be another option for the young player. Ivan Juric is pushing hard to convince him of this.
