At Old Trafford, James Garner’s performances had to have piqued the interest of the fans. Garner is expected to be given a chance to shine at Manchester United next season.

This summer, Manchester United’s new manager, Erik ten Hag, will take over as the team’s next permanent manager, succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Garner was loaned out to Nottingham Forest by the Norwegian in January 2021, where he performed admirably. Another spell at Nottingham Forest for the duration of the season was eventually agreed upon.

Since the arrival of Steve Cooper in September, the midfielder has grown by leaps and bounds. Garner is currently one of the team’s most vital and valued players, having demonstrated his ability to compete against Premier League opposition throughout the team’s FA Cup run. The 21-year-old has done more than enough to earn a spot in the United squad for next season.

Given the club’s problems in that position, it’s clear that he deserves an opportunity to demonstrate to the United management what he’s capable of. Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are both expected to leave the club on free transfers this summer, leaving only Scott McTominay and Fred as options in the center of the pitch for the Red Devils.

It is an area that needs major improvement, and news outlets have stated that adding at least one midfielder to the club this summer is a priority. Given the overall need to enhance the squad in a variety of areas, Garner might just be in the right spot at the right time.

With a transfer budget of between £100 and £150 million to spend this summer, a striker is obviously a priority position. That could make it tough for Manchester United, who are known for blowing the cash on big-name signings, to improve both in midfield and attack. Garner should be able to join the team as a result of this.

Based on his previous championship performances for Nottingham Forest, it will be well-deserved, and Cooper deserves a lot of credit for believing in the youngster enough to give him the opportunity to deliver in such a high-performing team.
