Manchester City football club is disappointed with the club defender and England International Kyle Walker for an alleged party with prostitutes amid the coronavirus lockdown in the United Kingdom.

The club issued a statement over the weekend to stressed how disappointed the club is and that the club will conduct an internal disciplinary procedure against the footballer.

The Sun newspaper in the UK broke the news that the footballer and his unnamed friend decided to break the social distancing law by calling for the services of two prostitutes who came to Walker’s Cheshire home to entertain them.

This incident happened a few hours after Kyle Walker put out a message to his fans urging them to obey the government order by staying at home.

Manchester City FC is aware of a story in a tabloid newspaper regarding the private life of Kyle Walker in relation to a breach of the UK lockdown and social distancing rules”, Manchester City statement says.

“Footballers are global role models, and our staff and players have been working to support the incredible efforts of the NHS and other key workers in fighting the effects of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, in any way we can. Kyle’s actions in this matter have directly contravened these efforts.”

Meanwhile, immediately the newspaper broke the news, Kyle Walker issued a statement to apologise for making such a decision in a period where medical practitioners were battling to keep the world safe.

The 29-year-old football star also used the statement to urge his fans to keep obeying the government order and stay at their homes.

“I want to take this opportunity to issue a public apology for the choices I made last week which have resulted in a story today about my private life in a tabloid newspaper”, he noted.

“I understand that my position as a professional footballer brings the responsibility of being a role model. As such, I want to apologise to my family, friends, football club, supporters and the public for letting them down.

“There are heroes out there making a vital difference to society at the moment, and I have been keen to help support and highlight their amazing sacrifices and life-saving work over the past week.

“My actions in this matter are in direct contrast to what I should have been doing regarding the lockdown. And I want to reiterate the message: Stay home, stay safe.”

Yet, Manchester City was not impressed with Walker’s apology as the club insisted via its official reaction to the news that the player would not go unpunished.

“We are disappointed to hear the allegations, note Kyle’s swift statement and apology, and will be conducting an internal disciplinary procedure in the coming days.”
