Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba has confirmed that burglars that invaded his home in the city of Manchester stole his FIFA World Cup medals.
The 29-year-old French footballer earned the FIFA World Cup medal after winning the tournament with France in 2018. Aside from the medal, the burglars also stole a couple of jewelry the footballer’s mother, Yeo Pogba, gifted him.
Futballnews has reported that the Burglars invaded Paul Pogba’s home when he was playing a UEFA Champions League game against Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. The match ended 1-0 in favor of Atletico Madrid and ended Manchester United’s journey in the competition 2-1 on aggregate.
When the footballer first took to his Instagram story to reveal that Burglars invaded his home and stole some of his valuables, he did not confirm what the valuables were. But in an interview with a French publication L’Equipe during the ongoing International break, the footballer confirmed that the burglars stole his World Cup medal and jewelry.
During the burglary, his two children, Labile Shakur Pogba and his last born whose name has not been made public yet were at home with the footballer’s nanny.
According to the footballer, the nanny and the children locked themselves in a room while the Burglars invaded the house and stole his valuables.
Afterward, the nanny called Pogba’s wife, Zulay Pogba to inform her what had happened, noting that the nanny was left traumatized due to the incident. However, his children were left unhurt.
After the incident, Paul Pogba said, he and his family have lost their “sense of safety and security”.
“There were jewels from my mother, my world champion medal”, Paul Pogba disclosed to L’Equipe.
“What scared me the most was that my two children were at home with the nanny during this incident.
“She overheard everything, called my wife and security, then locked herself with the boys in a room. For several days, she was shocked. The main thing is that my children are well.”
Paul Pogba to use the international break as an escape
Last week has been one of the toughest weeks in Paul Pogba’s football career. It was in the week in which he could not help Manchester United to progress beyond the round of 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League that his home was robbed and his valuables were stolen.
Fortunately for him, he was not injured which gave him the opportunity of being invited to join France’s national team. He is expected to feature in France’s international friendlies against the Ivory Coast and South Africa.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Pogba said the international break allowed him to rejuvenate after the hectic week.
“This break gives me a real breath of fresh air”, the 29-year-old French midfielder said.
“I want to have to play time to come back in top form at the club. Wearing this jersey, representing my country, is more than ever a source of pride.”
Also, the footballer took to his Instagram page with 52.6 million followers to share a picture of himself arriving at the France national team camp.
In the picture, Pogba looked excited and well dressed as usual to the extent it might be impossible to guess that he had gone through such a tough week.
In the caption, Paul Pogba whose contract with Manchester United will expire on June 30, 2022, wrote: “So happy to be back with the national team.
“The last few days obviously haven’t been easy after the burglary at my home and the Champions League exit, so it feels great to be reunited with my @equipedefrance family and concentrate on doing what I love again.”
So far this season, Pogba who reportedly earns £290,000-per-week at Manchester United, has scored a goal and provided 9 assists in 23 games in all competitions for the Premier League club.
