Some Manchester United superstars including Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea, and Paul Pogba have unfollowed Mason Greenwood on Instagram after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Harriet Robson.
Recall that Harriet Robson took to her Instagram page to share images and videos of herself to prove that Mason Greenwood assaulted her physically and sexually.
The alleged assault left Harriet with bruised face, leg, and blood gushing from her lips which confirm how severe the assault was.
Harriet also attached an audio clip to her Instagram post in which voices suspected to be that of hers and Mason Greenwood was heard arguing about sex. Based on the content of the audio clip, Greenwood allegedly tried to force himself on his girlfriend.
Though Harriet has deleted all the indicting contents from her Instagram page, the Greater Manchester police have arrested him since Sunday.
Even though the incident between him and his girlfriend is still under investigation, some of his teammates at Manchester United are already distancing themselves from the 20-year-old English striker.
Before the news broke that Mason Greenwood assaulted his girlfriend, the football star reportedly had a clash with Ronaldo. Reports claimed that some senior players at the club including the 36-year-old Portuguese football icon are not happy with the attitude of the player.
There are also reports that some top officials at Manchester United have not been happy with Greenwood because of his habit of coming late to training.
Aside from Ronaldo, De Gea, and Pogba, other players at Manchester United who are not following Greenwood on Instagram include Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Fred, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, and Alex Telles.
Police granted further time to question Mason Greenwood
Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that they have been granted further time to interrogate Mason Greenwood.
The police arrested him on Sunday, January 30, 2022, on suspicion of rape and assault. He was supposed to be released on bail after 24 hours but he would have to stay a bit longer in the custody of the police.
A statement from the police read: “Detectives have been granted additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who is being held on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman.
“The suspect was arrested yesterday (Sunday 30 January) afternoon and remains in custody. Inquiries are ongoing and the victim is being offered specialist support.”
Mason Greenwood who has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances since he joined Manchester United senior team in 2019, has been suspended by the club until further notice.
