TOP STORY: Barca is close to signing Aubameyang, but could Dembele be the next player to leave?
It looked like Barcelona’s Transfer Deadline Day might finish in a whimper earlier in the day.
Their talks with Arsenal over a loan deal for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had apparently broken down, with the Catalan club reportedly only able to pay a small portion of the striker’s £250,000-a-week wage unless they could sell Ousmane Dembele. That’s no longer the case.
Barca and Arsenal have agreed on a deal that will see Aubameyang join Barca on a free transfer, bringing his four-year stay in north London to an end.
22:43 GMT: Ousmane Dembele set to remain at Barcelona despite several speculations that player wants a move out of the Spanish side. Fabrizio Romano reported that there were never any ‘open talks’ or ‘interest’ from several clubs as rumoured earlier today.
22.49 GMT: Dan Burn, centre-back for Brighton & Hove Albion, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Newcastle United, the Magpies have announced. The 29-year-old returns to his boyhood club, where he played until he was 11 years old.
22.12 GMT: Atletico Madrid has confirmed the signing of Lille’s Reinildo Mandava, a 28-year-old left-back. After assisting Les Dogues to the French title last season, the Mozambican international was selected to Ligue 1’s Best XI and has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Spanish capital club.
21.56 GMT: Liverpool have reached an agreement with Fulham for the signing of highly rated 19-year-old winger Fabio Carvalho, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Reds are expected to spend roughly €10 million for the England youth international, who will remain at Craven Cottage for the rest of the season.
21.50 GMT: Following the revelation of Carlos Salcedo’s departure from Tigres for Toronto FC, the Liga MX team has announced the permanent signing of 24-year-old attacker Yeferson Soteldo from the Canadian club.

Despite previously confirming the signing of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus, Antonio Conte is said to want to keep him in north London.

Newcastle United are still looking for a striker, and while the Serie A club is reportedly unwilling to include a permanent option, they are willing to pay a £5.5 million loan price to part ways with their top striker.

After Newcastle and West Ham United both filed proposals for the 29-year-old, United insiders claim they did not get a sufficient offer, despite the fact that the Red Devils had asked Newcastle to pay a loan fee and a £12 million Premier League survival package.

19.43 GMT: The Colorado Rapids have announced that Auston Trusty, a 23-year-old centre-back, will join Arsenal on a permanent basis this summer. Trusty will remain with the MLS club until July 17, when he will depart for London. For a Rapids club that won the Western Conference in 2021, the United States youth international topped all outfield players in minutes, and he also attended the USMNT’s January camp earlier this month. The Premier League club beat out Crystal Palace and Valencia in the race to sign a short-term deal for a player who has struggled to find consistent playing time since joining from Ajax for £40 million in 2020.

The Spain international moved from Sevilla to north London for a record £21.6 million transfer price last summer, but he returns to his homeland just five months later, having played only 86 minutes of Premier League football this season.

The 29-year-old Colombian midfielder is expected to become RSL’s most costly signing in club history, with the club considering him as a vital to their future. With only a few minor technicalities to iron out, the Claret and Cobalt are optimistic that the deal will be completed soon.
