Real Madrid have reportedly made the current coach of Everton football club, Carlo Ancelotti, their top choice to replace the departed Zinedine Zidane.

For over a week, the Spanish La Liga giants have been without a football manager after Zidane decided to resign as the manager of the club.

Recall that the French tactician who has coached the club in two eras won three successive UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga titles for Real Madrid during his first and second spells at the club.

He said he decided to leave Real Madrid in the last week of May 2021 because he felt the Spanish giants don’t longer believe in his ability to manage the club.

Zidane’s decision to leave the club was inspired by his inability to win any major title in the just concluded 2020-2021 season. He only managed to lead the club to a second-place finish behind Atletico Madrid.

With the managerial role at the club still vacant, the club has decided to return to Carlo Ancelotti who managed the club between 2013 and 2015. During that period, the veteran coach helped the club to win a UEFA Champions League title.

Besides that, the Italian tactician helped Real Madrid to win Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Copa Del Rey. Unfortunately for him, he failed to win any title in the 2014-2015 season, hence, Madrid did not hesitate to fire him.

After he lost his job in Spain, the 61-year-old Italian tactician traveled to Germany to become the coach of Bayern Munich. He spent just a season at the club and succeeded in winning the German Bundesliga title which was not enough and had to go.

Immediately he left Bayern, he landed a job in his home country, Italy. He managed Napoli for just a season; he couldn’t meet up with expectations and had to leave the club to join Everton in 2019.

In the 2020-2021 season, after showing a lot of promise with Everton, he ended up leading the club to finish 10th on the Premier League table.

However, reports showed that Real Madrid don’t care about the current antecedent of Carlo Ancelotti and might announce him as the new coach of the club anytime soon.

Meanwhile, David Moyes who led West Ham United to finish 6th on the league table is said to be considered as one of the options for the managerial role at the Spanish side.
