Zinedine Zidane has decided to leave Real Madrid again after he ended the 2020-2021 season without winning any title with the Spanish giant.

Since the French tactician started coaching in 2016, he has never ended a season without a title but this season proved to be one of his toughest at the club. He lost out in all the opportunities of winning a title. Zinedine Zidane came very close to retaining the La Liga title this season but Atletico Madrid won it on the last day of the season.

Recall that in the 2019-2020 season, Zidane and Real Madrid struggled in the Champions League where their journey ended in the round of 16. This sparked his critics to speculate that he might not last long as the club’s manager.

However, Zinedine Zidane ended the season with the La Liga title which helped to end the speculation that his days at the club were numbered.

In the 2020-2021 season, the speculation that the French tactician would leave Real Madrid continued to grow stronger but the coach insisted that he was not planning to leave the Spanish giants.

At the end of the season, he told the media that he would meet with the board of the club to discuss his future. The meeting held and Zinedine Zidane reportedly asked them to give him some days to decide on his next move.

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, Zidane reportedly informed Real Madrid that he has decided to leave the club with two years still left on his contract.

At the time of publishing this report, Real Madrid had not confirmed the departure of the French tactician who spent five years of his football career at the club before he retired.

If the report that Zidane has left Real Madrid is anything to go by, it would mark the second time in his managerial career that he has had to resign as the coach of the club.

Recall that he first became the coach of the club in 2016 and went on to win a record three successive UEFA Champions League titles and one Serie A title with the club before he resigned in 2018. He returned in 2019 and could not replicate his previous performance at the club.

Reports in Spain are speculating that Real Madrid have already lined up Massimiliano Allegri and a former player of the club, Raul as one of the possible replacement for Zinedine Zidane.
