Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca revealed he wants Carney Chukwuemeka out of Chelsea at the end of the season.
Maresca claimed he wants the player to leave Chelsea to ensure he gets enough playing time at another club.
During the post-match conference after the 4-2 win against Brighton, Maresca said, “I will say exactly the same thing I have said many times: Carney is a very good player, but for the amount of players we have, we decided at the beginning of the season it is probably better to leave and go somewhere, prove himself, and play 30 or 35 games than be here and play fewer games.”
In addition, he said, “Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. He is our player. He had some minutes the other day; today he was not involved. Hopefully, we can give him more minutes.”
In the previous transfer window, the midfielder was a transfer target for AC Milan and Barcelona. However, an attempt to sign the player failed to materialize.
The 20-year-old intelligent attacker joined Chelsea in the 2022–23 season and failed to get enough playing time at the club.
Chukwuemeka has only played in the Carabao Cup for Chelsea against Barrow this season.
He is likely to be shipped in the January 2025 transfer window.
Chukwuemeka is one of the most talented players in the Chelsea squad, but he can’t be guaranteed playing time at the club because of the incredible performance of the other Chelsea attackers this season.
