Arsenal legend Kevin Campbell has sadly passed away at the age of 54 after a courageous battle with illness.

The deceased who also played for Everton passed away weeks after a previous report revealed that he was severely unwell.

It was confirmed that Campbell tragically passed away in the hospital in the wee hours of Saturday, June 15.

His health struggles began with a stroke a few months ago, leading to kidney failure and a significant drop in weight to just nine stone at the time of his death.

Despite his declining health, the 54-year-old remained positive and even reassured his former Arsenal teammates that he was doing okay according to Daily Mail.

However, the football community was left devastated by the news of his passing on Saturday morning.

Arsenal honored their former player with a heartfelt tribute, expressing their deep sadness over Campbell’s death.

The Gunners wrote: “We are devastated to learn that our former striker Kevin Campbell has died after a short illness.”

”Kevin was adored by everyone at the club. All of us are thinking of his friends and family at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Kevin.”

Everton also confirmed the news on social media, they wrote: ”Everyone at Everton is deeply saddened by the death of our former striker Kevin Campbell at the age of just 54.”

”Not just a true Goodison Park hero and icon of the English game, but an incredible person as well – as anyone who ever met him will know. RIP, Super Kev.”

Kevin Campbell was a retired English professional footballer who played as a striker for clubs like Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Everton.

He began his career at Arsenal, making his debut in 1988, and quickly became a fan favorite due to his physical playing style and goal-scoring ability.

During his time at Arsenal, Campbell won several major trophies, including the First Division title in 1989 and the FA Cup in 1993 and made over 200 appearances. He was also a part of the team that won the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Campbell achieved legendary status in Merseyside during his six-year tenure at Everton from 1999 to 2005.

He scored a total of 50 goals in 160 appearances for the club, with many of his goals crucial in helping Everton avoid relegation in the early 2000s.

Before his retirement from football in 2007, he played for Nottingham Forest, as well as West Brom, Cardiff City, Leyton Orient, and Leicester City.

Throughout his career, he scored a total of 107 goals in 394 appearances in the English top-flight.

Following his retirement from professional football, Campbell worked as a sport television pundit and co-commentator.
