Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has slipped into trouble again days after being left out of England squad for 2024 Euros.

The England forward was reportedly caught for over-speeding and has been charged. According to The Sun, the Manchester United star drove at a speed of 70mph in his £560,000 Rolls-Royce.

Following the charge, he will reportedly stand trial on September 27 and could bag a hefty penalty if found guilty.

According to GOV.UK, over-speeding penalties in the UK varies but two factors – the speed at which the offender rode and his wage – determine it.

The maximum penalty is a £1000 fine but it could go as high up as £2,500 if the offender was driving on a motorway. Other possible punishments include being barred from riding or suspension of driving license.

The Sun confirmed Rashford was riding on the M60 motorway. This implies the Man United star could be slammed with a maximum sentence of £2,500 fine if found guilty.

The 26-year-old is the highest-paid Manchester United player with a weekly wage of £360,000. He penned down the mega deal with the Old Trafford club after a remarkable 2022-23 campaign that saw him reach his career-best tally (30 goals) for the club in a single season.

Away from the 2022-23 campaign which saw the England international reach the peaks of his career, it has been a nightmare for the English forward. A series of underwhelming performances on the field and off-ield controversies have combined to mar the season for Rashford.

Rashford was down to tears when United defeated cross-city rivals Manchester City to win the cup – a reaction that Fastrack his difficult campaign with the club.

He announced he was leaving social media after the match to recover and return stronger. Now, the over-speeding report has further raised questions about whether the player is ready to reflect and return stronger as he said.

Meanwhile, the alleged driving offence comes a few days after he was left out of the England 2024 Euros squad for the first time since his big break.
