Arsenal fans took pleasure in mocking Manchester United Old Trafford’s leaking roof during the club’s 1-0 victory over the Red Devils.
Manchester United stumbled to their 14th Premier League defeat this season with a narrow 1-0 loss to the Gunners.
Leandro Trossard scored the only goal as the Gunners ran out with a much-needed victory over the Red Devils to keep the pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
On a cloudy evening at the Stretford End, it was a double blow for Manchester United as the deplorable state of Old Trafford was laid bare following a heavy downpour at the of the match.
Torrents of rainfall could be seen pouring heavily through the leaked roof of the facility and meandering through seats and surfaces as a pool of water.
The area connecting the tunnel and the bench for the coaching crew and players of the opposing team was flooded with water. Further pictures show the dressing room for the home team was also flooded with water due to the leaked roof.
The heavy downpour came a few minutes before the end of the match with Arsenal cruising to victory.
And the away fans latched on to the opportunity to spice up their victory with a mockery chant in the stands.
The fans chorused, ‘Old Trafford is falling down,’ a symbolic chant that points to both the infrastructural decay and the sporting misfortunes of the club since Sir Alex Ferguson left the reins as the club’s manager.
