Manchester United have been handed a big boost ahead of their crunch Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

United club statement on Thursday confirmed striker Marcus Rashford and defender Lisandro Martinez are back to first-team training after spells on the sidelines.

Lisandro Martinez, who has endured a difficult second season with United marred with injuries, has been sidelined since March 30 during United’s 1-1 draw with Brentford in the Premier League.

The Argentine international had just returned from his lengthy spell on the sidelines after calf surgery only to return after the Brentford match.

Lisandro Martinez’s injury prompted United to begin investigations of the club’s spiraling injury crisis. He has made only 11 appearances for the club this season and has been sidelined three times.

Unlike his teammate, Marcus Rashford has played an integral role in United’s squad, mocking up 29 Premier League appearances for the club before his injury. He has been sidelined since April and has missed United’s last three matches against Burnley, Sheffield United, and Crystal Palace.

United confirmed in a club statement the pair are back to first-team training and are in contention for a starting role in the slated clash with Arsenal.

The club statement announcing the return of the duo reads;

“Manchester United have welcomed Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford back into first-team training at Carrington.

“Our exclusive pics from the club’s base show the Argentina international and homegrown forward working with the main group after spells on the sidelines,” it read in part.

United manager Erik ten Hag, who has decried the impact of recurrent injuries on the club’s misfortunes, will hope to see off the Gunners with his boosted squad.

On the other hand, Arsenal will hope to ace the fixture and stay on top of the race to clinch their first Premier League title in 20 years.
