Manchester United suffered a shock 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park to cap what has been a disastrous campaign for the Red Devils.

United and Chelsea target Michael Olise struck twice as the Eagles flew high over a disfigured United side marred with injuries.

As early as 12 minutes into proceedings, Crystal Palace got off the mark. Munoz had picked out Olise with a throw-in and he danced past Casemiro before driving towards the United penalty area. At the box, he worked it onto his left before striking low, and it flew into the bottom corner, leaving Onana with no chance.

After going down by a lone goal, United did very little to mount a comeback with the Eagles continuing on their ascendant run going forward. Five minutes before the break, the hosts struck again to double the lead.

Richards had fired a pass to Mateta, and he turned before flying past the challenge of Evans. He then worked his way into the penalty area and produced a powerful strike that flew into the back of the net at the near post.

It was another nightmare encounter for the Red Devils as they went down easily to the ravaging firepower of the hosts.

13 minutes into the second half, Crystal Palace made it 3-0. Wharton had sent a dangerous cross from the right-hand side and Andersen arrived at the back post. Tussling with Dalot, he managed to poke the ball across goal, and Mitchell, left unmarked, fired it into the back of the net.

United were heading towards one of their heaviest defeat this season. Crystal Palace were not done scoring despite going three goals up.

Six minutes after the hour-mark, Casemiro’s mistake allowed Munoz to dispossess him on the byline. He then picked out Olise on the edge of the penalty area, who then turned it into the left before firing into the back of the net to make it 4-0.

It ended with a thumping defeat for the Red Devils as Crystal Palace held on against late pressure to secure victory.

The loss has seen United drop to 8th on the Premier League table with 54 points and could miss out on all tiers of European football next season.
