Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has ruled United out of the Premier League title race next season.

Speaking ahead of Man United’s Premier League clash against Burnley at Old Trafford, the Dutch offered a somewhat factual but pessimistic assessment of Man United’s chances next season.

In a quote shared on social media, Ten Hag insisted the current Man United squad doesn’t have what it takes to stage a challenge for the Premier League title next season due to the competition in the English elite division.

He added the squad needs more reinforcement in key areas to join the elite cadre of Premier League clubs that may challenge for the Premier League title next season.

“It is not a two-horse or three-horse in the Premier League anymore. There is Villa. There is Spurs. There is Newcastle. Chelsea don’t forget them… They are all competing for the top four and we are one of them, but we are not in this moment, in a position to compete for number one or two. That is fact. But I think we can come closer if we have a good window,” he said.

Erik ten Hag’s brutal assessment of Manchester United has already stoked reactions with some United fans furious with his clueless antics that has apparently contributed to the team’s misforunes.

A fan wrote, “More reinforcement after you have spent close to half a billion pounds on new signings with no result.”

Another fan wrote, “It is high time we let him go at the end of the season. This statement shows man has run out of options to reposition the team.”

Another fan added, “This is a crazy assessment from a manager. He should be sacked.”

Far from his impressive debut campaign last season, it has been a difficult run-in for Erik ten Hag in United dugout this season.

The club is miles away from securing the Champions League spot and could end the season without a trophy if they fail to beat cross-city rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final – a result that looks unlikely.

Meanwhile, pressure has continued to tank up on the Dutch with reports he could be sacked at the end of the season.
