Arteta provides update on Bukayo Saka injury

Speaking concerning the injury to Saka, Mikel Arteta said: “He was limping quite badly after the match, We had to get him off the field, which is never a good sign.”

Arteta also made it clear that the Englishman could be absent from Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture.

He said: “It’s a possibility, yes.”

Bukayo Saka has scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists in 8 appearances across all competitions this season.

Should Saka be absent from the encounter against Bournemouth, it will culminate the Englishman’s club-record run of featuring in 86 consecutive Premier League matches.

The 22-year-old has scored 42 goals and provided 44 assists in 187 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions.

He made his debut for the Gunners on November 29, 2018, in a UEFA Europa League clash against Vorskla Poltava.

Bukayo Saka has also represented England, earning 30 caps, scoring 11 goals, and providing 7 appearances.

Meanwhile, defender Jurrien Timber is currently nursing a knee injury, which he picked up in training on August 15, 2023.

Thomas Partey, Leandro Trossard, Declan Rice, and Gabriel Martinelli are also sidelined due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Rice was substituted at half-time against Tottenham Hotspur due to a back injury, but manager Mikel Arteta has played down the injury scare.

Mikel Arteta on Arsenal’s injury issues

Speaking concerning the injury issues that his team is plagued with, Arteta said:

“It’s true that they play with the national teams and they’re coming from a season where they had a World Cup and some players played 60-odd games.”

The Spaniard also expressed that Arsenal have tried to devise a means to curb injuries picked up by players of the club, but he claims that they are inevitable.

“There are some traumatic injuries, others are more muscular. We try to find the ways to avoid them but they’re a part of football.”

Arsenal sit 5th on the Premier League table with 14 points, having picked up 4 wins and 2 draws from 6 league matches.

They crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the 3rd round last season, having lost 1-3 to Brighton at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s side are aiming to win a major silverware this term, and winning the EFL Cup is a massive avenue for them to achieve that aspiration.
