The first installment of matches in the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup was littered with a potpourri of results.

Some expected results were seen, while some other venues also witnessed shocking and unexpected outcomes.

To some teams, it appeared to be a spark of a renaissance, while for a selected pool of teams, it seems their woes have no definitive end.

Defending champions of the Carabao Cup, Manchester United, comfortably defeated Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace by 3-0.

Alejandro Garnacho, Carlos Henrique Casemiro, and Anthony Martial all got their names on the score sheet, in an eventful evening at Old Trafford.

That remarkable victory saw them record two consecutive victories across all competitions for the first time this season.

Kompany’s boys are doing magic in the Carabao Cup

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley also seem to have made the Carabao Cup their safe haven as that is the competition they have recorded victories this season.

Having defeated Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in the 2nd round of the competition, they took another trip to The Peninsula Stadium to play Salford.

Kompany masterminded his side to a morale-boosting victory, as they returned to winning ways in Manchester, days after losing to Manchester United at Turf Moor.

Wolverhampton Wanderers can’t seem to get out of their ruins this season, as they once again plunged to another defeat against Ipswich.

Despite going into a two-goal lead in the first 15 minutes through goals from Hee-Chan Hwang and Toti Gomes, they soon lost their guard and purpose in the encounter.

Ipswich clawed an impressive comeback victory out of the blues, courtesy of goals from on-loan Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson, Freddie Ladapo also got in on the act, and Jack Taylor scored the killer goal to further the misery of Wolves supporters this season.

Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough defeated Mark Hughes Bradford City by 2-0, a fixture that included two Manchester United legends going against each other.

Luton Town look to be soaked into the murky waters of problems, as they continue their disappointing start to the season.

League one Exeter City secured a smash-and-grab victory in front of their home supporters, despite Luton Town enjoying a massive chunk of the possession.

Rob Edwards’ side weren’t sharp in attack and they had to rue their profligacy, as a late strike from Demetri Mitchell pierced the hearts of the traveling fans at St James Park.
