About The FIFA Women’s World Cup
FIFA Women’s World Cup is an international association football competition contested by the senior women’s national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The WWC has been held every four years and one year after the men’s FIFA World Cup since 1991 when the inaugural tournament was held in China.
The tournament’s current format, several national teams vie for 31 slots in a three-year qualification phase.
The host nation’s team is automatically entered as the 32nd slot.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the quadrennial international women’s football championship contested by women’s national teams and organized by FIFA.
The tournament was set to take place between 20 July to 20 August 2023, and is jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
However, this is the first time the tournament is hosted by more than one nation, as well as the first World Cup to be held across multiple confederations.
This is because Australia and New Zealand are in the Asian confederation and Oceanian confederation respectively.
