Benjamin Mendy Featured In Local Kick-about After Being Cleared Of Rape Charges

Benjamin Mendy made an appearance at a local kick-about, after he was acquitted of the rape charges levelled against him.

Mendy turned up for the kick-about sporting the sky blue shirt of Manchester City as he gets himself ready ahead of a possible return to active football.

The Frenchman was cleared of rape and attempted rape by a jury at Chester crown court on Friday, June 14, 2023.

Benjamin Mendy was seen smiling and in high spirit as he celebrated with friends on Friday evening by moving out of his apartment.

After his celebrations on Friday evening, the 28-year-old was present at the Pitts complex in Ardwick, Manchester, for a kickabout with unfamiliar faces.

One onlooker stated that many “couldn’t believe” they were getting to play against the 2018 World Cup winner.

The onlooker shared that Mendy was all smiles as he relished the moment and he also shook the hands of everyone present.

An onlooker said: “He had a laugh and just enjoyed himself and was happy to shake everyone’s hand at the end and sign autographs.”

Benjamin Mendy joined Manchester City in 2017 from AS Monaco, in a deal worth an estimated £52 million and he was earning a £100,000 per week wage at the club.

He signed a six year deal with the Citizens, which came to an end in June 2023.

Manchester City have subsequently released the defender and it is uncertain where his future lies.

Mendy is reportedly keen on resuming his career in Europe but he could also move to Saudi Arabia to earn massive bucks.

The 28-year-old is currently battling bankruptcy and situations have forced him to close down his organization, BM Sport Consulting after he was pursued by the taxmen for not paying back his debts.

He regained his freedom on Friday, July 14, after about three years trying to clean his name.

A jury at the Chester Court freed him of allegations of being a sexual predator and he celebrated it by having fun in a nightclub.

What happened after the jury aquitted Mendy of the charges levelled against him?

The Frenchman was beaming with smiles as he was pictured hours after a jury acquitted him of attempting to rape a woman, who was 29 years old after she bathed at his Manchester apartment in October, 2018.

He was also not found guilty of sexually abusing a 24-year-old woman in his bedroom at his £4.8 million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire in 2020.

One of Benjamin Mendy’s friends shared a video of the defender wearing a traditional attire at his apartment prior to also sharing another footage.

The other video showed Mendy wearing a black T-shirt grinning as music was heard playing in the background.

The former AS Monaco defender was keeping himself in shape at a gym in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

While the trial was ongoing, he became teary in the dock at Chester crown court as he was found not guilty of the allegations leveled against him.

Benjamin Mendy expressed his delight at the judgment and he should be making a return to active football soon.

Mendy made 75 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 2 goals and providing 14 assists.

He was last in action for Manchester City in August 2021, during a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

His finances experienced a huge setback following the charges heaped on him in 2021, with Manchester City also putting a halt to his salary in September 2021.

Due to his financially handicapped state, he had to sell his six-bedroom apartment in the Spinney in Prestbury, Cheshire, incurring huge losses. 

Additionally, he sold several of his cars including his Lamborghini and luxury watches.
