Manchester United have finally reached agreement with Chelsea to sign prolific England attacking midfielder Mason Mount.

After a dragging round of talks and negotiations for Mason Mount, the two clubs have now finally reached agreement for the player.

According to reports reaching us from Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and Chelsea have finally reached full agreement for Mason Mount after talks today.

“Personal terms agreed weeks ago and face to face talks between the clubs made it it clear. The agreement is done.

“Mount become Manchester United player. They never left the race,” Fabrizio Romano says

Following the agreement with Chelsea, Mason Mount will be Manchester United’s first top signing this summer.

The agreement is coming after Manchester United had a three bids for Mason Mount rejected with reports emerging the club were set to withdraw their interests after having their third £55m bid for Mason Mount rejected.

Today, it was confirmed the club have re-opened talks with Chelsea, trying to strike a deal with the London club to sign the player.

Chelsea pushed for the reconvening of talks with Manchester United after United, led by their football director John Murtough, blasted Chelsea’s handling of Mason Mount transfer saga.

John Murtough was reportedly ready to back off from the deal after Chelsea rejected the club’s £55m offer for Mount with reports emerging the Red Devils were exploring other alternatives should the Mason Mount deal fails to go through.

It was understood Chelsea wee still belligerent on their asking price of £65m for Mount but Manchester United were not ready to meet the demand.

Meanwhile, Mason Mount had agreed personal terms to join Manchester United and had been clear on his Chelsea future. Mount did not want to sign a new contract with Chelsea and wanted the leave the club as a free agent when his contract expires after next season.

Sources close to the club revealed Chelsea were not ready to lose Mount on a free transfer and were desperate to strike a deal with suitors to cash out from the player hence they pushed for talks with Manchester United after rejecting the last bid.

After resumption of talks, there were optimism between both parties a deal will be sealed but it was evident Chelsea needed to drop their £65m asking price for Mount if they want to sell to Manchester United.

Now, the two clubs have settled for a middle ground on the asking price with Manchester United agreeing to increase their £55m bid by £5 while Chelsea reduce their £65m asking price by £5m to strike a deal.

Mason Mount will become Manchester United first top signing this summer and the 7th Chelsea first team player to leave the club this simmer after the likes of N’Golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic, and Kai Havertz.

N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Hakim Ziyech are leaving Chelsea to Saudi Arabia while Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz have joined Chelsea domestic rivals Manchester city and Arsenal respectively.

Mason Mount is a homegrown Chelsea player and has been at the club since 2005. He made his first senior club appearance for Chelsea in 2017 and has went on to make 129 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals.

Mount won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea. Chelsea tendered a new contract proposal for Mount but the England star turned down the offer after his £250,000 weekly wage demand was rejected by the club.

Mount earned £80,000 weekly from his old five-year contract with Chelsea.

Manchester United are offering Mason Mount a five-year contract with an option of a one-year extension, according to the Telegraph.

Mount will earn £200,000 weekly wage at Manchester United, marking a sharp increase from his £80,000 weekly wage at Chelsea.
