Following the dismissal of three managers and an estimated £600 million spent in the transfer market, Todd Boehly is apparently set to retreat from duties at Chelsea.

The West London side have endured a torrid campaign which will see them finish in the bottom half of the English top-flight for the first time since 1996.

Chelsea have come out victorious in only one of their previous 10 matches, an horrendous campaign could end on a bad note with games against Manchester United and Newcastle United to conclude the season.

Due to the poor season the Blues have had, Todd Boehly had supposedly chosen to reduce the time he spends running the day-to-day affairs of the club.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Todd Boehly has been using half of his time working at Chelsea.

But that would now reduce to 20% with him set to appoint executives who he would put in charge of those duties.

The American will be using his time to work on his other businesses which includes the likes of Basketball side Los Angeles Lakers and Baseball team Los Angeles Dodgers.

He led the £4.2 billion acquisition of the 2-time UEFA Champions League winners in 2022 as his consortium and private equity group Clearlake Capital bought the team from Roman Abramovich.

The United Kingdom had placed heavy punishments on Abramovich after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Those sanctions definitely had an effect on his assets in and around the United Kingdom.

After the £4.2 billion acquisition was finalized, Bloomberg reported that the American billionaire was investing half of his time supervising the day-to-day affairs of Chelsea.

In January, Todd Boehly left his role as the caretaker sporting director of Chelsea with the target of gradually removing his hands from duties and handing it over to executives that were still acclimatizing to the role.

The American co-owner assisted the team to a never-before-seen spend on the transfer market as signings such as Enzo Fernandez, Wesley Fofana, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Marc Cucurella and Raheem Sterling arrived at the team.

However, in spite of that massive outlay of £600 million, it could not help galvanize the club to an improved position on the Premier League table.

Chelsea would finish in the bottom-half on the Premier League table and abysmal results across the season led to managers like Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter fired from the team.

Club legend and former manager, Frank Lampard has since taken over the affairs of the club as interim manager until the end of the season but the West London side have continued to plummet.

It will be Chelsea’s worst finish in the top-flight since finishing 14th in the 1993/94 season.

The Blues would also end the season trophyless after they were bundled out from all domestic cup competitions.

Todd Boehly’s side were also annihilated out of the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid.

Frank Lampard who has had an horrendous run of one win in eight games since he took over Chelsea is expected to be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino after the expiration of the season.

The Blues are expected to see several outgoings in the summer with names like Mason Mount and Edouard Mendy already linked with a move to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

One name that could exit the side in the summer as they try to reduce their wage bill is Marc Cucurella, who has failed to impress since joining the side from Brighton last summer.

Chelsea have had an horrendous campaign this season

Chelsea visit Manchester on Thursday night as they travel to play against 4th placed Manchester United who have only lost one game all season at Old Trafford.

Based on stats going into the game, Chelsea certainly are no match for Ten Hag’s men but it’s a big game that seems relatively hard to predict.
