Marcus Rashford’s 27th-minute strike was enough for Manchester United to secure a victory over Brentford and take the Red Devils back to the English Premier League top four.

Marcus Rashford returned Manchester United to top four

The striker, filling in for the injured Wout Weghorst in the center of the field, pounced on Marcel Sabitzer’s assist in the 27th minute and volleyed decisively past David Raya from close range to clinch a crucial three points and put United back on track to qualify for the Champions League.

Marcus Rashford, the English striker, has already scored 10 Premier League-winning goals for Manchester United this season, which is the most since Wayne Rooney did so 13 years ago.

The victory put the Red Devils back on track following their embarrassing 2-0 loss to top-four rivals Newcastle on Sunday at St. James’ Park.

The English striker, who has in recent months entirely changed the story of his career, is now very close to the 30-goal mark in all competitions, which is a huge potential accomplishment.

Manchester United dominated from the start of the match at Old Trafford and were favored after Marcus Rashford scored a close range in the first half of the match.

Erik Ten Hag’s men held on for the victory and secure three points, which sees them return to the UEFA Champions League spot as they surpass Tottenham Hotspur into fourth place in the Premier League table.

Just four days before, Newcastle completely outplayed Manchester United, causing them to fall behind in the race for Champions League spots when it appeared as though they would be coasting to a top-four finish.

Kudos to the United’s manager and his team, they got up off the ground and have made this season look fairly bright.

It’s hard to call it vengeance for Ten Hag’s 4-0 loss at Brentford in his first away game as manager, but it did provide the Dutchman with some closure and a much-needed victory.

For the first time since April 1989, Manchester United entered the game at risk of going four league games without scoring when Marcus Rashford scored his 28th goal of the season.

Manchester United and Eddie Howe’s third-place Newcastle, who sailed to a convincing 5-1 victory over relegation-threatened West Ham United in the other Wednesday night game, are now level on 53 points in the league table.
