Jurgen Klopp: The Making
Jurgen Norbert Klopp was born on the 16th of June 1967, the last of 3 kids born in Stuttgart, West Germany. His father worked as a salesman and a former goalkeeper, Klopp says his father was a significant force behind him falling in love with football.
He had a hidden love for medicine but was told he wasn’t smart enough as he headmaster advised.
He later graduated with a Diploma of Sport Science from Goethe University in Frankfurt.

Jurgen Klopp as a player was pretty much a one-club player, he got his contract with Mainz 05 in the German Second Division. Klopp Earlier, in his career, played as a striker while he was later moved to right back. Surprisingly, Klopp was the club’s record goalscorer with 52 goals from 325 appearances until he retired from active football in 2001

Klopp is currently married to Sandrock Ulla since 2005, who is a Writer and a Social Worker but was previously married to Sabine in 1980 and had a son Marc Klopp who also played football in Germany before he retired early due to persistent injuries. Jurgen Klopp is also a protestant Christian and has made his faith known in public.
Jurgen Klopp: The Manager; Mainz 05, Dortmund, Liverpool.
In 2001, Jurgen Klopp took charge of Mainz 05, helping the team avoid relegation with one game to spare in his first season in charge of the club. In 2003-2004 season Klopp secured promotion for the first time in the club’s history despite its small budget. Sadly, Mainz 05 was relegated in 06/07 season but later left the club for Borussia Dortmund in 2008.
Klopp was an instant hit at Dortmund by winning his first trophy in his first season when he defeated Bayern Munich in the 2008 German Supercup. At Dortmund, he introduced the Gengen/Heavymetal football pressing style to the world. A unique playing style that requires high pressing and high attacking style, which he said is influence by Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi.
During his spell at Dortmund, he won a consecutive league title in the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 season, one DFB Pokal and DFL Supercup. During his period at Dortmund, he formed a special bond with his player, who often sees him as a father-mentor figure. He took Dortmund to its first European final in its history, which they lost to league rival Bayern Munich.
In April of the 14/15 season, he announced that he would be leaving his role as Dortmund Manager; he left Dortmund with a record of 179 wins, 70 losses, and 69 draws.
Thursday 8th October 2015, Klopp was announced as Liverpool’s new manager at Anfield, where he said, “ we have to change from doubters to believers.”
Like his previous clubs, Klopp led Liverpool to the Europa League final in 2015/16 and another Champions League final in 2017/18 against Sevilla and Real Madrid, respectively, which both ended in defeats.
He made record-breaking transfers to add quality to his team and depth.
While the club got the taste of success under Jurgen Klopp as they won the 2019 Champions League final against English rival Tottenham while also going on to win the club world cup.
Despite success on the international stage, Klopp found it difficult find a winning formula domestically to overcome some of the league toughest opponents in the 2018/2019 season when they finished just one point behind winner Manchester City, while cup fixtures were also proving difficult
The 30 years for the clubs Premier League trophy was finally over-under Jurgen Klopp with Liverpool winning the 2019/20 season with games to spare. The team also went 44 matches unbeaten the second-longest winning streak in the league.

Jurgen Klopp’s emotional side of the game has been said to be a secret to his success, it is not an unusual sight to see him hug his player round after every game, while players and staff can’t seem to get enough of it.
In December 2019 he signed a new four and half years contract with Liverpool which takes him to 2024. Liverpool will hope more success will follow.
