Portugal born Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been named the EPL player of the month for June, for the second time in a row. A record only Cristiano Ronaldo achieved in 2006.

While his volley against Brighton& Hove Albion in June won the goal of the month award.

The Red Devil’s midfielder has been in excellent form since his transfer from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, for an initial fee of £47 million. A transfer that was needed due to the injury to French international Paul Pogba.

The in-form midfielder is the first Portuguese player to win the English Premier League player of the month since Deco in 2008.

Manchester United fans got a tip of what to expect when he arrived, has he assisted a goal in the 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. While he got his first European goal for Man United in a  5-0 win over Club Brugge.

The midfielder is the joint leading top-goal scorer in the Europa League with six(6) goals, and four (4) assists with over 600 minutes of gameplay.

Since signing in January, Fernandes has made 10 appearances in the Premier League, and he has never ended on the losing side. The midfielder has contributed Seven (7) Premier League goals, which three(3) are from the penalty spot, and six(6) assists to his name. He also created a total of 12 chances, a number only equaled by Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

The Portuguese midfielder has formed a formidable partnership with Paul Pogba since the restart of the league, displaying a unique type of football that has been missing for a long time.

The physical presence and pass range of Paul Pogba, combined with the movement, vision, and technique of Bruno Fernandes, gives the team much-needed confidence and swagger.

The duo shares a total of 1,127 passes, as the team averages a goal every 25 minutes when they play together. Pogba and Fernandes have started three games together since the restart of the season, and United has won all three of them.

The Red Devil has been playing with a lot more forward momentum and precision since the arrival of the Portuguese international.

The addition of the Portuguese midfielder may just be the missing piece in Man United’s midfield. Hopefully, the beginning of a trophy-laden career at the club, if early signs are anything to go by. United have surely got themselves a rare gem.
