With just two and a half weeks till the commencement of the 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, teams would be looking to booster their squad in preparation for the new MLS campaign which will start on February 25.
There are still two and half months remaining till the Primary Transfer Window comes to a halt on the 24th of April in 2023.
Many teams in the MLS love to make their roster signings as quickly as possible to give room for new signings to blend with the rest of the team.
Below are some to-do list for some selected MLS teams:
Portland signing a starting No. 9 in the MLS
Following the arrival of attacking midfielder Evander who hails from Brazil and is a club record signing from Danish Superliga team, FC Midtjylland, Portland are still in the transfer market for another player and the player that suits their fancy must be a starting No 9 who is capable of producing the goods in the MLS.
According to reports, players in the Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) range are more likely to be signed up. In that case it wouldn’t be a deal where massive money would be spent but quality would be added.
The timbers have been making moves through several sources who are diligent and are gently trying to make the right move and not a panic buy.
Right now, Jaroslaw Niezgoda from Poland, Felipe Mora who is a Chilean international is returning from injury and Nathan Fogaça from Brazil are all on the team’s roster, they don’t have an issue where they need to be too desperate. So, there is no reason to fret for Matchday 1.
Evander would lead the attack for MLS side Portland alongside Colombian winger Yimmi Chara and Santiago Moreno in addition to Sebastian Blanco who is in the twilight of his career.
The Timbers know their ambitions for the season and they would be battling painstakingly to achieve it.
New York Red Bulls (Center back)
Many are expecting Major League Soccer (MLS) side, New York Red Bulls to make a signing in the center of their defense after Aaron Long departed on a free to Los Angeles FC.
New York Red Bulls currently have Andrés Reyes and Sean Nealis as players who play in that position but if the manager, Gerhard Struber goes for a three-man back line, there would be a need for another player.
The Red Bulls Metro have had a very occupied off season as they have made additions in defense and in attack – signing DP Dante Vanzeir and getting the services of a veteran in the MLS Cory Burke also capturing Brazilian Elias Manoel.
They also didn’t turn a blind eye towards their defense as they have also signed Kyle Duncan on loan from KV Oostende in Belgium.
They also got Curtis Ofori, Jayden Reid alongside John Tolkien at left back.
And at least one more top buy at center back should do a good job in giving them cover for their MLS season.
Los Angeles Galaxy (Wingers)
Los Angeles Galaxy have had outgoings in their wings after the conclusion of the previous season. Kévin Cabral has moved over to the Colorado Rapids with Samuel Grandsir transferring to Ligue 2 table leaders, Le Havre.
There have also reports of Douglas Costa moving away from Los Angeles Galaxy to Brazil Gremio but he is still currently with the most successful MLS Cup side.
There are also possible links of incomings but as of now, we have to wait to see if any deals would be concluded in the coming weeks and months.
Vancouver Whitecaps (No. 9): The side from Vancouver are doing all the necessary documentations needed to sign Venezuelan forward Sergio Cordova, who is on loan from German Bundesliga outfit, FC Augsburg.
