Darwin Nunez has given his own verdict on his personal start to life in the Premier League and its look not to be far from what many expected.
The Liverpool forward who joined the Reds from Benfica in the summer, for an astonishing £85m, is Liverpool’s club record transfer signing.
The Uruguayan hasn’t kicked into gear quite nicely, as he has scored just five (5) goals in fifteen (15) Premier League appearances for the Merseyside based team.
Nunez, who is 23-years-old has missed a truckload of big chances in many matches in the Premier League this season.
The enthusiasm and burning desire that fans of Liverpool used in welcoming the former Benfica man has since died down due to his below par season.
Last season in the Liga Portugal, Darwin Nunez was so magnificent in front of goal but it seems the gulf in class in both leagues has shown forth.
Jurgen Klopp placed a massive trust in him, and the FSG owners of the Reds went out keenly to snap him up after scoring 26 goals in the Liga Portugal last campaign.
But the former Almeria man who did quite impressively at the Spanish club, scoring 16 goals in 32 appearances has failed to hit the ground running in England.
However, Darwin Nunez recently spoke about his not so impressive start in the Premier League and the difference between the league and the Primera Liga.

The Uruguayan said, “It is a very big change. Here the league is stronger, more competitive. I didn’t expect it to be so strong.
“It has impressed me a lot. There are no bad teams. They are all in this league for a reason.
“The football is more difficult than in Portugal and more competitive. You don’t get much time”.
That was Darwin Nunez remark on the Premier League games and many would obviously concur due to the monstrous and peak level of competition.
The competition in the Premier League is vast in nature as many other footballers, coaches, pundits and fans have also alluded to that notion.
Nunez’s teammate Cody Gakpo, who joined up from PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie is also not yet delivering as expected.
The Liverpool forward has many times echoed how he has always dreamed of playing in Europe and he indeed looks to be enjoying every bit of that dream.
Only that fans of the Reds would want more from their man that bothers on getting balls behind the back of the net of oppositions.
When the Uruguayan arrived he was expected to deliver and was placed side by side with Erling Haaland of Manchester City.
But it seems Haaland has adapted to life in the Premier League better than Darwin Nunez as the Norwegian has had an incredible season in front of goal.
