It was a possible show of shame last night for the Frenchman and Golden Boot winner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Kylian Mbappe who missed a penalty in unfamiliar fashion as Paris Saint Germain defeated Montpellier 3-1 on Wednesday.

The Frenchman, Kylian Mbappe missed the initial penalty and he had another chance to go for glory as he was asked to retake the penalty but he missed it once more before skying the rebound over the crossbar missing a wide open goal in front of him.

Kylian Mbappe also went out injured in that encounter as the Frenchman seemed to have picked up a knock during his below par performance for the Parisians.

Christophe Galtier substituted the Frenchman just half way through the first half as he couldn’t continue the game after picking up the injury in a game where he looked like a bug.

But Christophe Galtier has played down the intensity of his injury saying “Is it a bruise? We don’t know yet” but they are not fretting or worried about that as the manager further added “We’re not too worried.”

It might have come as a surprise to many seeing the Frenchman, Kylian Mbappe retake the penalty on Wednesday for Paris Saint Germain, most especially last night after seeing particularly the resultant circumstances around that spot kick.

It was somewhat amazing that the Frenchman missed the first spot kick and was still allowed to retake the second attempt bearing in mind that Lionel Messi was somewhere lurking around.

Paris Saint Germain fans had a rollercoaster of emotions last night

Fans of Paris Saint Germain certainly had a potpourri of emotions in the game partly due to the Frenchman, Kylian Mbappe’s poor performance in the first half.

But they can put that behind them as they won courtesy of goals from Fabian Ruiz, Lionel Messi and Warren Zaire-Emery who ensured that they did the job in usual fashion and making it a victory done in domineering style.

The consolation goal for the Montpellier side was scored by Arnaud Nordin but based on what victory serves to fans, PSG faithfuls would be happy seeing the team go five points clear at the summit of the French Ligue 1.

Alongside the Frenchman, Kylian Mbappe who went off injured in that game, defender and Spaniard Sergio Ramos also went off injured with about little around fifteen (15) minutes still left on the clock in the first half League victory away to the La Paillade.

It would be action time in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage as daggers would be drawn on valentine’s day, the 14th of February.

Fans of the Le Parisians are worried they might be without the full complement of their squad as Frenchman, Kylian Mbappe went off injured against Montpellier alongside Sergio Ramos.
