Jurgen Klopp has sent a heartwarming message to the fans of Liverpool football club ahead of their first match in the Premier League. The 2019-2020 season is set to restart today, June 17 as it was halted on March 13 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and Liverpool is the focal point.

Though the Premier League will restart today, the league leaders will have to wait until Sunday, June 21, to play the first of their 9 remaining games. The match is between the club and their local rival, Everton football club. It will take place at the Everton’s home ground, Goodison Park at 7 PM on Sunday.

The second-placed Manchester City will kick start the proceeding today when they face Arsenal in a must-win rescheduled match. If City fails to win the match, Liverpool’s meeting with Everton will be a straight title decider for Jurgen Klopp and his boys.

Recall that before the Premier League ordered that the season should be halted in order to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool was already leading City with 25 points. However, City still has 10 matches left to play while Liverpool has 9 games. When City plays their today’s game, they will be left with the same number of games as Liverpool.

This is why every match is important for both teams but City is condemned to win all their remaining matches and pray that Liverpool loses at least three matches to fancy a chance of overtaking the table toppers and retain the league title. While Liverpool needs just two wins out of 9 to win the Premier League for the first time in 30 years.

The fans of Liverpool know that the odds are in their favour and they can’t wait to be part of the history. Hence, Jurgen Klopp had to make a special video and share it out through the official Twitter handle of Liverpool FC urging them to be calm and stay safe while they anticipate their club’s victory.

In the three minutes, 11 seconds video, the German tactician said: “When we all became aware of the problem we will have, all together, the whole world, that was the moment we realised football is not as important as the night before when played Atletico Madrid. I think that’s a good lesson to learn. We had to show responsibility and we showed it.

“There were times when we didn’t know if we would play again and there were rumours about null and void and points-per-game.

“Now, we stand here and the league will start again because we behaved responsibly. We did the things we had to do because we wanted to save our loved ones and all the others as well.

“So, the league starts again and we can go for our massive target again and for this we need you, we always needed you.

“It’s still football and it’s still for you. We will be in the stadium and you will be at home. I can promise you we will feel your support, I will make the boys feel your support. You are still 80 or 90 per cent of petrol in our tanks.

“Stay safe, support us from home. We are still with you and you’ll never walk alone.”
