There have been reports that Cristiano Ronaldo is not enjoying life in Juventus as he expected and he might want to end his relationship with the club this summer. Some reports from Italy have been speculating that the coach of the Italian Serie A giants Maurizio Sarri, is not in the best of terms with the Portuguese football icon which is strange for the former coach of Chelsea football club.
There are hardly records of Sarri having heated up disputes with the players he has been working with. But for reports to be suggesting that he and Ronaldo are not in good terms, then, it means it is something serious.
Recall that Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho, the former coach of Real Madrid and the current coach of Tottenham Hotspur, was once quoted as saying that he had problems with Ronaldo during their time together at Madrid because Ronaldo always feels like he knows what is best for him.
The troubles he had with Mourinho between 2010-2013 was so pronounced that it contributed to what made the management of Madrid to force the coach out of the club. The 57-year-old coach who is also from Portugal might be right about Ronaldo since Sarri is finding it difficult to manage the 5 times Ballon d’Or winner.
The 35-year-old billionaire footballer joined Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018 after he had spent about 9 years at the Spanish club. Just like his glory days at Manchester United when he shone like a million star before he joined Madrid, he achieved everything club football has to offer before he left for Italy.
However, in his two seasons in Turin, he has not been able to fully reciprocate the feats he achieved in the Premier League and in the Spanish La Liga. He has only helped them to win one Italian Serie A and one Supercoppa. The 35-year-old is also looking forward to winning this season’s Italian Serie A as Juventus is currently leading Lazio with a point on the league table.
Where next for Ronaldo?
So far, Ronaldo has scored 53 goals in 75 appearances for Juventus in the last two years which means that the 35-year-old still has a lot of goals in him. This also means that he is not thinking of slowing down or retiring anytime soon. He might want to surpass the age of Zlatan Ibramovinch who is currently 38-year-old and he is still playing in a top club like AC Milan.
If Juventus is not able to manage their relationship with Ronaldo, the big question is where else can he go? Will he be tempted to return to Manchester United where he won his first Ballon d’Or? Will he decide to return to his home country, Portugal, to rejoin his childhood club Sporting CP? Or will he go to America and play in the Major League Soccer and retire there like David Beckham?
The list of questions are endless but if Ronaldo finally decides to leave Juventus at the end of this season, he would prefer to join a club where there is still a possibility of winning more European titles and probably equal or surpass the six Ballon d’Or his perceived rival Lionel Messi has won so far.
