Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has insisted that he was at his best before he got injured in February while playing against Wolves. He noted that the coronavirus break has given Manchester United the opportunity to have their full squad back before the proposed restart of the season.
Marcus Rashford was one of the star players at Manchester United who was injured weeks before the coronavirus pandemic halted football in the Premier League. He and every other player of the club, including Paul Pogba, have fully recovered from their injuries and are ready to complete their remaining 9 games in the league.
Before Rashford was out with a back injury in February 2020, he has played 22 Premier League games for United this season, scoring 14 goals and made 5 assists. Yet, the performance of the team was not as encouraging as it became when Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo started playing for the team in February.
From February 1 until 12th of March when United played their last match before the coronavirus pandemic halted football, the club has not lost a match. They have won 6 matches and drew 3 in their last 9 games.
“I think coming out of this lockdown we are in a much stronger position than we were going into it”, Marcus Rashford told Stretty News.
“I think we just need to take each game as it comes and not get too ahead of ourselves. We are working hard in training, gelling as a team with players coming back from injury, etc.
“For me personally, I felt I was having my best season to date before the injury-hit so now I’m back fully fit I’m determined to push on.”
Ryan Giggs Hails Ighalo who could act as a backup to Rashford when the season restarts on June 17
Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has described Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo has a different player who gives “something extra off the bench when he’s not starting”.
The iconic retired footballer stated this while reacting to the contract extension of Ighalo. Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua agreed with United to extend the stay of the 30-year-old forward at the Premier League side until 31 January 2021.
“He’s different, he’s a centre forward whereas the other players can play out wide,” Ryan Giggs told Sky News.
“It’s positive that he is able to stay because he has done well. He makes an impact when he’s on the pitch.”
