Recall that Robert Lewandowski has been very vocal about his desire to leave Bayern Munich for Barcelona this summer.

However, most people don’t know why the Polish international wants to leave Bayern so badly but his former agent has admitted that it’s because he wants to show that he is “better” than Karim Benzema.

Barcelona is interested in signing the Bayern Munich striker, but negotiations have been dragging on due to the financial aspect of the deal.

According to reports, the Spanish giants will make one last attempt to complete a deal by making a final offer. The German heavyweights rejected an earlier offer of £30 million-plus £4 million in add-ons because they value their player at £52 million.

After declaring his time at Bayern was done, the Polish international is eager to move to Spain and is hoping the team will make it happen.

Speaking during an interview with Radio Ser, Cezary Kucharski said: “He wants to prove that he is better than Benzema, it’s another reason [he wants] to go to Barcelona.

“Lewandowski has no dreams. For him, playing football is a job and he is very professional. Real Madrid and Barcelona are at the same level.” The striker did not hide his feelings over a departure from Bayern Munich last month: “My era at Bayern is over,” the Bayern Munich hitman said.

“I don’t see any possibility to continue playing for this club. Bayern’s a serious club and I believe they won’t keep me – I don’t want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me.” Lewandowski has also admitted that there’s no loyalty and respect in the Bayern Munich team. According to him, no player would want to join Bayern after seeing what they’re doing to him.”

Meanwhile, Xavi talked about a desire to sign the striker back in May. “Lewandowski is one of the players who could come to us,” the Barcelona legend said.

“He has already expressed that himself. Negotiations are underway, but it will not be easy, we can’t spend a lot of money.”

This means that Barcelona’s well-known financial condition, in which they must sell to buy, is one obstacle stopping them from buying Robert Lewandowski.

The 33-year-old, who still has one more year left on his current contract with Bayern Munich will be expected to come back to preseason practice the following week if an agreement is not reached. Kurcharski remains confident that Robert Lewandowski would join Barça this summer.

Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund and has broken legendary striker Gerd Muller’s record of most goals in a calendar year. He has won a lot of golden boot awards both in Germany and across Europe.

The Poland captain missed the opportunity to grab the 2020 Ballon d’Or award because it was cancelled due to the coronavirus. However, he’s among the top contenders for this prestigious award this year although he will have to fight for it with players like Karim Benzema and Mohamed Salah.
