Zlatan Ibrahimovic played alongside his son on Wednesday, 15th of February, 2023, days after Milan’s victory against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg match.
The 41-year-old Swedish striker was on the same team with his son Maximilian, for the AC Milan youth side that played against those who played either zero minutes or very few against Tottenham on Tuesday evening.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic son Maximilian, was deployed out on the left while his dad took up his normal position through the middle of the training match.
Maximilian, the 16-year-old has been on the register at AC Milan stadium San Siro since the summer of 2022 when he arrived from the Hammarby youth set up in his home country, Sweden.
Over the past decade, Ibrahimovic’s name has been synonymous with European football’s elite, yet nothing exposes his age more than seeing him line up beside his own kid in a training match.
As a 41-year-old, he has already accomplished about everything there is to accomplish in the sport, having won trophies in five different countries. However, the Champions League has so far eluded him.
However, he may not have expected to reach the point where he can play with his own child.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic took to his Twitter page on Wednesday, 15th of February, 2023 afternoon to share the footage of the match with the caption that reads; “DNA”.
However, the first-team roster included more than just Ibrahimovic; 24-year-old goalkeeper Devis Vasquez, who signed with the club in January, also played.
The Swedish star was conspicuously left off of Stefano Pioli’s Champions League roster for the Italian club, as he has been dealing with a knee injury.
Following knee surgery this past summer, Ibrahimovic is yet to make a start for the Rossoneri in any competition so far this 2022-23 season.
AC Milan’s win against Spurs was only their third in 10 games across all competitions for a team that is currently fifth in the Italian league, 18 points behind league leaders Napoli.
What’s next for Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
The 41-year-old is hoping to return to the game in the coming weeks, however, a specific date for his triumphant comeback has not been announced.
On Saturday, they’ll take the road to face Monza, and then eight days later, they’ll welcome fellow European contenders Atalanta to their own turf.
