After a year without a job, former Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane has declared that he wants to return to management.
Zidane stepped down last summer as Madrid coach and is expected to wait until after the 2022 World Cup to take over France’s national team from Didier Deschamps, whose contract runs out after the tournament.
There have also been rumors that Zidane could join Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but he has stated that he is not interested in taking over the club due to his desire to be France’s national team coach.
The French champions have revealed that coach Mauricio Pochettino won’t continue coaching the team after just one season with them.
The Argentinian was brought in from Tottenham Hotspur with hopes of getting them the Champions League trophy but his team was knocked out in the round of 16 by Real Madrid.
Although he succeeded in winning the Ligue 1 title for PSG, failure in the Champions League is the main reason for his dismissal.
Paris Saint-Germain has reached out to Nice head coach Christopher Galtier for a possible move to the club. Reports claimed that Jose Mourinho also rejected an offer from PSG as he revealed that he wants to stay with Roma.
While celebrating his 50th birthday, Zinedine Zidane spoke about his desire to return to coaching. He said: “I think I still have many things to contribute as a coach, or at least some. I want to continue because I still have this illusion, it’s my passion. I still feel the flame inside.
“I’m 50 years old, fulfilled, and happy, which is the most important thing.”

Zinedine Zidane has revealed that he is “not proud” of his 2006 World Cup final headbutt on Italy’s Marco Materazzi. The match marked the end of Zidane’s career, and it featured both highs and lows.
The Frenchman scored a Panenka penalty just seven minutes into the game but was sent off for the historic clash with Materazzi with ten minutes remaining in extra-time. Fortunately for Zidane, Italy won after a penalty shout-out.
Speaking about the incident, he said: “I’m not at all proud of what I did, but it’s part of my journey,” he said. “In life, not everything is done perfectly. The only one who could have contained me that evening was [Bixente] Lizarazu. It would have been massive to have him by my side, but you can’t rewrite the past. “ are always difficult moments in football and this was one of them.”
