Former Inter Milan and Chile international football star Ivan Zamorano have urged his former club Inter Milan to complete a permanent deal for Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez is currently on loan to the Serie A giants on a season loan transfer.

Sanchez, who has gotten off to a rather slow start, has endured a few injuries which saw him on the sidelines for most of the season thus far. The forward has managed to make only nine appearances on Antonio Conte’s side. Despite the Chilean’s setbacks for both Inter and United, Zamaroano believes Sanchez will perform and prove everyone wrong given another season at San Siro.

Speaking at a Chilean radio station, Radio Cooperativa the former ace said: “He has a contract with Manchester United but we will see where he wants to continue and feels happy. I would like [him] to stay in Milan, in June he would have the opportunity to play with another Chilean, who will most likely come to this club. I am optimistic about the possibility to see two Chileans at Inter.”

Arturo Vidal who is also a Chile native has been linked with the Milan club and set for a possible move over the summer. Zamaroano believes having two Chileans at Inter would be good for the club and exactly what Sanchez needs as a boost. The former footballer has also called on Sanchez to start against rivals AC Milan and expects his fellow countrymen to make quite an impression that will keep doubters mum.

Speaking on the showdown against rivals Inter and AC Milan on Sunday, the former striker said, ”I hope he has the opportunity to play from the beginning. With his intelligence and his speed, he can make a difference. The most important thing is that Alexis can have fun and play a great game. He didn’t play much in Manchester and it cost him physically. When he was in his best physical condition, he got injured.”

“On Sunday he has a great opportunity because Lautaro [Martinez] is disqualified [suspended] and Romelu Lukaku needs a good partner to hurt Milan’s defense which has not done well lately” he added.

Zamorano played for Inter Milan between 1996 and 2001 as a striker and won 69 caps for Chile. He made 101 appearances for Inter scoring 26 goals. Prior to joining Inter, he enjoyed a spell over at Real Madrid hitting the back of the net 77 times in total in 137 appearances. He is often referred to as one of Chile’s most recognized footballers alongside Marcelo Salas and Elias Figueroa.
