This incident happened when Yves Bissouma was on the verge of hitting the peak of his football career at Brighton, especially during the 2021-2022 season.
He would not have been at the nightclub the night he was arrested if he was not battling a knee injury. Due to the injury, he sustained before the October FIFA international break, he was not invited for Mali’s World Cup qualification campaign.
In his absence, Mali were able to beat Kenya 5-0 at home on October 7. The country went on to beat Kenya away on October 10 but this time around, the scoreline was 1-0.
The two wins have taken Mali to the top of the World Cup qualification Group E table with 10 points in 4 games, two points above second-placed Uganda.
