The manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Jose Mourinho, has boasted that it is Chelsea’s Frank Lampard that should be asked whether he is afraid of Tottenham not the other way round.
The manager who has coached Chelsea for about 5 years, stated this when he was asked whether he was afraid of the current set-up of the West London club.
Recall that Chelsea spent the highest amount of money on transfers during the 2020 summer transfer window. The signing of players like Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, defenders Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell, in the last transfer window has made the club a major title contender this season.
So far this season, Chelsea have scored 22 goals in 9 Premier League games and they have conceded only 10 goals making them one of the highest-scoring side and one of the best defensive sides in the league.
On the other hand, Jose Mourinho and his players have not been doing badly this season. They have been topping the table until Saturday when Liverpool took over after drawing 0-0 against Brighton in their 10th league game. Tottenham is currently the best defending side in the league as they have conceded just 9 goals and scored 21 goals in 9 league games.
They are currently sitting on the second spot on the league table, one point away from first-placed Liverpool which means that a win against Chelsea this afternoon will return the team to the summit of the league table.
Based on the fact that Tottenham are currently enjoying their best form in the league and with the availability of the club’s top stars like Harry Kane and Heung‑min Son, Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspurs are fearless at the moment.

“You’ll have to ask Frank if they fear us or not,” Mourinho said. “But I don’t think fear is the right word at this level. We don’t fear anyone.
“We respect their potential and I think they respect our potential. Honestly, I don’t think they believe they are going to play an easy opponent.
“I would love them to feel that way, but I don’t think they do. Frank is a man with a lot of experience in football and I think they know we are a difficult team that is capable to go there and win.”
The Chelsea vs Tottenham match will kick off at 17:30 today at Stamford Bridge and it will be a record breaking feat if Tottenham manage to win Chelsea at home. Before now, Jose Mourinho’s led team has never won a match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Frank Lampard is yet to lose a league game as a manager against Mourinho.
It’s London derby day.
