Gary O’Neil’s Wolves lost 3-2 away against Championship club Ipswich Town on Tuesday, and Pep Guardiola’s side also lost 1-0 loss at Newcastle United on Wednesday.

Both sides experienced early exits in the EFL Cup and they will be looking to move on from the early exits and make amends.

Match Preview

O’Neil will be facing an in-form Man City after an unwanted four-match winless run in all competitions after they lost to Crystal Palace and Liverpool.

After the defeats, they also endured a 1-1 draw at Luton Town last weekend and their midweek EFL Cup defeat to Ipswich.

Wolves will return to their home soil this weekend where they already lost two Premier League games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool.

Wolves still have strong fixtures ahead of them which includes Man City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

The West Midlands outfit have lost every one of their last six meetings with Manchester City by an aggregate score of 19-3.

They are currently in 16th place in the Premier League table with just three points above the relegation zone.

Manchester City, on the other hand, lost just their second match in 39 games in 90 minutes across all competitions after Newcastle loss.

Unlike Wolves, the defeat saw City crash out in the third round of the EFL Cup for the first time in a decade.

Pep Guardiola praised his team after the defeat to the Magpies and crashing out of the EFL cup so early just like their opponent Wolves.

However, Manchester City are currently top of the Premier League table after winning each of their first six games, and they will look to add Wolves to the list.

They will also face RB Leipzig in the Champions League before a top-flight showdown with last season’s title rivals Arsenal.
