Wolves vs Chelsea is a Premier League fixture to watch out for today, December 15, 2020. The fixture is scheduled to go down at Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux Stadium at 19:00.
Chelsea is going into this match after their unfortunate 1-0 defeat away to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. The defeat did not only expose Chelsea as a team that is still “a work in progress”, but it also dragged the London based club from the 3rd spot on the league table to the 5th spot.
Before Saturday’s game, Chelsea was enjoying 9 games unbeaten run which made Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp to believe that the Blues were the major Premier League title contenders.
Coach Frank Lampard and his expensive squad were expected to get the maximum three points in their visit to the Merseyside club to top the league table temporarily but Everton’s defense proved so difficult to crack.
During the post-match press conference, Frank Lampard charged his team to react to the defeat using their today’s league match against Wolves.
But Wolves are not such an easy team to get three points from even though they have not been enjoying the best of form especially in their last two league games in which they suffered a 4-0 defeat away to Liverpool and then a 1-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa.
These might not be enough to assume that Wolves will easily bow to Chelsea when they host them at the Molineux Stadium tonight.
Recall that before Wolves met Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on November 29, they suffered a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Leicester City and then suffered a 1-1 draw against Southampton. Yet, Coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s side went on to beat Arsenal 2-1 away from home.
So, the Wolves vs Chelsea league match tonight is not expected to be a one-sided game. It is a must-win match for both sides because if Chelsea lose the match, they will distance themselves farther from the top of the table. And if Wolves drop three points tonight, they will draw themselves closer to the relegation zone.
As it stands, Chelsea is hanging on to the 5th spot with 22 points in 12 league matches. They are three points away from the current table toppers, Tottenham Hotspur. While Wolves are sitting on the 13th spot with 17 points in 12 league games. They are currently 9 points away from the relegation zone.

Wolves’ coach Nuno Espirito Santo will not be able to play the club’s veteran midfielder Moutinho. He was shown a red card last weekend in the game against Aston Villa.
Unfortunately for Wolves, the club will not have the services of their striker, Raul Jimenez, who is still recovering from a concussion suffered in the club’s match against Arsenal on November 29. The club will also be without Jonny Otto.
On the other hand, Christian Pulisic who could not make the trip to Everton last weekend could travel with Chelsea to Wolves tonight but it is not likely that the American soccer star will start due to fitness issues.
Coach Frank Lampard will most likely be without Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech who are still battling to recover from different degrees of injuries. Besides the players mentioned earlier, Chelsea don’t have any other major injury worry going into tonight’s fixture.
