It was a torrid afternoon for Liverpool, as they suffered defeat in the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers in an afternoon filled with disaster all round for Liverpool.

Match Review

Wolverhampton Wanderers opened scoring in the 6th minute, through an own goal from Joel Matip, after a low cross from Hee-Chan deflected off Joel Matip and rolled into goal after making contact with the post.

An afternoon that the Reds were largely poor attacking wise and even defensively with Wolverhampton Wanderers taking advantage of their frailties.

Liverpool abysmal, Wolverhampton Wanderers imperious

The side from Merseyside tried in moments of their own, to get a goal with Sa coming in handy and saving their blushes when need be.

Craig Dawson came back again to punish the Reds Liverpool, as he pounced on a rocket of a rebound in the 12th minute.

Jurgen Klopp’s men tried to create chances of their own that would lead them towards restoring hope of getting back into the game, but time and time again they were let down by their forward plays.

Mohammed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Alexander Arnold all performed below expectation, as they continued in their calamitous showing many times this season.

The Reds have failed to score in their last two Premier League games as many as their previous 36 matches in the Premier League.

Rubes Neves, Matheus Nunes and Cunha were the orchestrators of Liverpool’s downfall as they controlled the game directing it to wherever they want it to sway.

Wolverhampton Wanderers players in joyful mood

In the second half, Liverpool tried everything they could to come at Wolverhampton Wanderers but they were toothless in all angles.

Jurgen Klopp’s side after that loss to Julian Lopetegui’s Wolverhampton Wanderers have now failed to score in the last three Premier League games for the first time since December/January in 2020/21.

Jurgen Klopp speaking after the game on the situation of Liverpool said: “There’s no excuse. I can’t explain it — first 15 minutes were horrible. It needs to be changed, I’m sorry”.

“We just need to change it now, there’s no explanation. Change immediately in the next game”.

Mohammed Salah who alongside Sadio Mane has carried Liverpool in the past was missing for the entire duration of ninety (90) minutes .

Mohammed Salah record number of appearances

Liverpool forward, Mohammed Salah made his two-hundredth (200th) Premier League appearance in the tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers and he becomes the 17th player to achieve that feat for the Merseyside Reds.

Ruben Neves wrapped up the job for Julien Lupetogui’s men, as the Portuguese was free in the box, which allowed him enough time to slot the ball in a cool manner beyond Allison in goal for the Reds.

Fans of the Reds continue to be in dampened spirit, as their side continue to put on stage abysmal and clueless showing week in week out in the Premier League.

Liverpool started the game in a 4-3-3 line while Wolverhampton Wanderers side filed out in a 4-4-2 formation.

The Reds by virtue of that loss, go below Chelsea to mid-table on the Premier League, sitting tenth (10th) on the Premier League table.

Wolverhampton Wanderers shoot up to fifteen (15) on the Premier League table as a result of that impressive victory against Liverpool.

Julian Lupetegui with that win has engineered Wolves to their first victory against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool since 2019 and their first win in nine games against the Reds.

Full time: Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 Liverpool FC
