The availability of Lionel Messi is a significant question mark for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ahead of their Ligue 1 match against Troyes on Sunday, May 8.

The 34-year-old forward, according to the club’s official medical update, has a rib ailment. Messi’s participation in the game will be decided on the morning of the game. The following is from the medical update: After experiencing rib pain, Leo Messi exercised alone.” Another review will be undertaken tomorrow morning.

If Lionel Messi’s injury isn’t too serious, he might be able to play against Troyes. In that case, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will attack with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, or he may come off the bench. Mauricio Pochettino, on the other hand, has no reason to jeopardize Messi’s fitness. After scoring a magnificent long-range goal in PSG’s 1-1 draw with Lens a few weeks ago, the Argentine attacker has already sealed the Ligue 1 title.

It’s worth noting that Lionel Messi struggled against Strasbourg the previous time around. The Parisians were held to a 3-3 tie, but the 34-year-old forward did not provide a single goal.

PSG won 2-1 over Troyes on the opening day of the 2021-22 Ligue 1 season. The Parisians were able to secure all three points in the match thanks to goals from Achraf Hakimi and Mauro Icardi.  At the time, Lionel Messi had not been announced as a Paris Saint-Germain player, so he did not play.

    Watch the highlights here:

Last summer, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi joined Paris on a free transfer. The Argentine captain had high expectations, but he has had a disappointing season in France. In 31 appearances with PSG in all competitions, the 34-year-old forward has scored nine goals and contributed 13 assists. On the other hand, Messi has only four league goals this season in Ligue 1.

Messi, on the other hand, has demonstrated his greatness on a few occasions. In the league, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has a hat-trick of assists on two separate occasions. It’s worth noting that Messi’s PSG deal has one more year left on it, with the possibility to extend it by another year. With a year of experience in the French league, the former Barcelona great will be hoping for a much stronger season in 2022-23.
