Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been left out of the club’s pre-season tour ahead of the new campaign.
Chelsea new manager Enzo Maresca dropped the player from his preseason squad in a clear statement on the place of the 25-year-old in his new Chelsea setup.
Chalobah reportedly took part in Chelsea pre-season training under the watch of the new boss and was expected to make the squad.
However, in a shocking move, Maresca reportedly told the center-back his services won’t be needed in the pre-season, and by extension for the rest of the season.
The move has probably thrown the player out of balance with his agents set to explore alternatives for his transfer away from the club this summer.
Chalobah struggled with a hamstring Injury and played little role at the start of Chelsea’s 2023-24 campaign under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. However, he was crucial to the club’s resurgence late in the run-in, registering 13 Premier League appearances, and scoring one goal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are open to Trevoh Chalobah’s exit this summer, hence the decision to leave him out of the squad.
The English defender has four years left on his contract with the club and had garnered attention from Chelsea’s London rival Tottenham Hotspur last season. The Lilywhites reportedly pushed for a move for the player but had their bids rejected.
Nottingham Forest were also on the queue for his services but could not broker a deal. However, there is a change of paradigm under new boss Enzo Maresca, with the door for the player’s exit now opened.
Manchester United are leading the list of clubs interested in Chalobah. Chelsea’s London rivals, West Ham United and Fulham, are also lining up a move for the player, including Crystal Palace.
Trevoh Chalobah Chelsea career
Trevoh Chalobah is a homegrown Chelsea player. He began his career with the Blues at the age of 8, playing for the club’s Academy at Cobham. After a lengthy spell with the club’s youth levels, he finally made his first-team debut in 2021 and has went on to make 80 appearances for the club in all competitions. In his three-year spell with the club’s first team, he has been loaned out three times to Huddersfield, Ipswich, and FC Lorient in France.
There are suggestions he could be loaned out again, having fallen out of favor in Enzo Maresca’s setup. A permanent exit solution is not ruled out.

Chelsea unveil new signing Caleb Wiley
While the Blues are preparing for Chalobah’s exit, they are also welcoming fresh legs into the fold. Former Atlanta United and American winger, Caleb Wiley has joined the club.
The Blues’ announced the signing of the young midfielder in a statement in the club’s website.
“Chelsea is pleased to announce the signing of United States international Caleb Wiley,” the club statement reads.
Wiley, 19, began his career with Atlanta youth in 2016. He made his first senior career appearance, playing for the club’s reserve team in 2020. After an impressive 33 matches with the club, Wiley transitioned to the club’s first-team in 2022. He made 77 MLS appearances in his two seasons with the club, scoring 6 goals, before the Chelsea move.
On the international scene, Wiley played three times for USA U-17s in 2020, featured ten times for U-20s, and five times for the U-23s. He was called up for USMNT in 2023 and has been capped twice.
Caleb Wiley Chelsea contract
Wiley has signed a six-year contract with Chelsea till 2030. Reports claim Chelsea are planing to loan him to sister club Strasbourg in France to further hone his skills before bringing him back to the club.
