Chelsea and French star N’Golo Kante has been ruled out of the 2022 World Cup in the latest update on his injury situation.
The French senior men’s national team has seen their injury situation worsen ahead of the 2022 World Cup after the latest update on N’Golo Kante’s injury situation.
It has been confirmed that the French star will be ruled out for four months after he picked up a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s Premier League matchday two clash with Tottenham.
Kante returned to full fitness after picking up the injury on August 14 as he was spotted in Chelsea’s training session.
These boosted hopes of a possible return as he showed signs of recovery, but the latest update has shown the reverse.
Kante reportedly aggravated the injury during the training session and had to go on surgery.
A club statement made available by Chelsea has confirmed that N’Golo Kante will miss the 2022 World Cup, which kicks off on November 21, 2022.
The statement confirmed that Kante had undergone a successful surgical operation and would be ruled out for four months before full recovery.
The club statement reads:
“N’Golo Kante has undergone an operation on his hamstring injury.
“The midfielder visited a specialist with the club’s medical department to explore the options for his rehabilitation approach. It’s mutually agreed for N’Golo to have surgery to repair the damage.
“Following a successful operation, N’Golo is now expected to be sidelined for four months.”
New Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, has not played N’Golo Kante since taking over the helm of affairs at the club.
Potted has reportedly expressed concerns over the long-term fitness issues of Kante at the club.
Kante’s injury challenge has been at the core of his contract renewal deadlock with the Blues. His contract expires at the end of next summer.
