Since the news broke that a Premier League player in his late 20s was arrested on the suspicion of rape in north London on Monday morning, July 4, 2022, most football fans have been wondering who the player could be.
Since the player was arrested based on suspicion of such a sensitive case, the police are trying very hard to hide the suspect’s name. Yet, some fans on social media are speculating that the suspect could be Thomas Partey.
Thomas Partey? Well, events are gradually beginning to make it look like the speculation is not far from the truth. One of such events is that Partey did not fly out to Germany with Arsenal’s squad earlier this morning according to Arsenal team reporter Chris Wheatley.
Wheatley who earlier claimed that Partey traveled with the team turned around hours later to apologize for misinforming his followers and corrected himself that the Ghanian midfielder was left behind.
“Thomas Partey is currently in London and did not travel with the Arsenal team to Germany”, the reporter tweeted. “Apologies for any confusion caused by an earlier tweet.”
If the Ghanian midfielder didn’t travel with coach Mikel Arteta’s squad for the four days camping in Germany then he could be the Premier League player that was arrested on the suspicion of rape.
Why fingers are pointing at Thomas Partey as the Premier League player that was arrested on suspicion of rape…
When the news broke that a Premier League player was arrested on the suspicion of rape, reports claimed that the Premier League star is a first-team player. The report also claimed that the player was supposed to follow his team on a tour this week.
Also, the Premier League player is scheduled to represent his country in the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar which will commence in November.
More so, the suspect is in his late 20s and is someone who is very important to his team and one can hardly tag rape offense on him based on his moderate lifestyle.
Thomas Partey is 29-year-old and was supposed to fly to Germany with Arsenal this week for a four-day pre-season tour but didn’t travel with the team.
He is expected to lead Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and is a very important member of Arsenal’s squad, hence, he matches perfectly with the description of the yet-to-be-named suspect.
It is also believed that Adidas had unfollowed Partey on social media even though he has a deal with the German-based sportswear manufacturing company. This was first reported by @unassumingreds.

Note that all these are just speculative. It is a developing story that could make more sense with time. Hence, let us wait for an official statement from the police and Arsenal football club instead of feeding on assumptions.
