Premier League side Watford have announced the permanent signing of Argentine forward Ignacio Pussetto from Serie A club Udinese on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

The 24-year-old joined Udinese in 2018 and made 12 appearances in Serie A this season and featured 50 times across all competitions for Udinese, where he scored five goals and picked up the same amount of assists. He becomes Watford’s second signing of the January window after Brazilian forward Joao Pedro joined the Hornets two weeks ago.

This month, Brazilian starlet João Pedro completed his long-awaited arrival at Vicarage Road from Fluminense. Watford were forced to wait for him to turn 18 before the move could go through. Pedro has already made his competitive debut for Watford too, after being brought off the bench in their 3-3 draw against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup.

Pussetto is said to have cost Watford in the region of £7m, which is the same price Udinese paid to sign him from Argentine side Huracan in July 2018. The Argentine has become Watford’s seventh signing of the 2019/20 season and will take their spending to over £40m this campaign.

The Hornets had signed Ismaïla Sarr for £27m, Craig Dawson for £5m. While Tom Dele-Bashiru and Danny Welbeck arrived both on free transfer during the summer transfer window and Leeds United’s Sam Dalby also arrived in their Under-23 side.
