Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool has claimed that the Reds’ draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford feels like a loss.

What happened?

Jurgen Klopp and his men were forced to settle for a point against Erik ten Hag’s boys despite a dominant display that saw them have 28 shots compared to Man United’s nine shots.

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz gave the visitors the lead early on before Bruno Fernandes took advantage of Quansah’s giveaway pass to score from the center circle.

A superb Kobbie Mainoo strike later gave Man United a shock lead, before a late Mohamed Salah’s penalty regained a point for the Reds.

Liverpool are fighting tooth and nail for the Premier League title and the draw leaves them one point ahead of third-placed Manchester City, and Van Dijk believes the Reds have dropped unnecessary points.

Jurgen Klopp and his men are in pursuit of the Premier League title this season, and a draw against the Red Devils leaves them level on points with League leaders Arsenal sitting second on goal difference.

However, Liverpool captain and defender Virgil Van Dijk appeared to be disappointed much more than his manager after the final whistle.

The Dutchman was asked by reporters how he felt about the game, and he said; “It feels like a loss, it is our fault again”

The former Southampton defender further explained what cost them not to secure all three points against their fierce rival.
He said; “We had so many chances and we should finish the game off.”

“Unfortunately, the individual mistake happened with the equalizer and we had so much time to put it right, but we were in a rush.”

“Still after being 2-1 down, we created so much. We should have been 2-0 up at least, but in football, unfortunately, if these things don’t happen you give them the feeling they could come back and it happened.”

Speaking on Quansah’s mistake, Van Dijk encouraged the academy player, saying; “He shouldn’t (feel guilty).”

He added; “Mistakes happen in football everyone who has a career in football makes mistakes you can only learn from it.”

Liverpool’s draw means Arsenal are top of the English Premier League table, with Jurgen Klopp’s side sitting second and Manchester City in third.

What is next?

Liverpool are still competing on multiple fronts and face Atalanta in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday. They will then face Crystal Palace in their next Premier League game three days later.
